Power Dynamos coach Osward Mutapa has offered insight into why he does not always start Kenyan striker Moses Shumah, despite the forward being the team’s current top scorer.
Shumah has nine goals in all competitions this season, including two in the CAF Champions League and seven in the Super League. Yet, he has started only one of Power Dynamos’ three Champions League group-stage matches.
Over the weekend, Shumah was again named on the bench for the game against Nigeria’s Rivers United, surprising many fans who expected the striker to start.

When he came on, he showed his usual energy, testing the goalkeeper with three shots on target, although he did not score.
Power ended up drawing the match scoreless and reduced their chances of making it to the knockout stage of the Champions League. They travel to Nigeria on Wednesday with hopes of picking their first win.
On his decision not to regularly start Shumah, Mutapa seemed to insinuate that the Kenyan is not aggressive when his team needs to chase the ball.
“Yes, he is leading the pack in terms of goal scoring but we need players that would want to chase. You know, [playing] a lone striker, we would want him to chase every ball and if he is not ready to do that, then we have to do something else,” Mutapa said.
