ZESCO United coach Mwenya Chipepo has continued to lay down the marker on what he expects from his team as he seeks to restore the club to the pinnacle of Zambian football.
Chipepo, who was appointed to revive Zesco’s fortunes, appears clear about what he wants to achieve, with unity, discipline and team spirit among his immediate priorities.
On Friday, after watching Zesco beat Power Dynamos 1-0 in the four-team club tournament at Arthur Davies Stadium, Chipepo said restoring unity and love in the dressing room would be central to his work.
“What was missing was unity, love. Zesco was Zesco United, and if you are not united, you cannot go anywhere, so we have to instil discipline and embrace each other. So this is what we are working [on],” Chipepo said.
Chipepo said he was pleased with the result against Power, although he acknowledged that the team was still in the process of regaining its sharpness following pre-season training.
Meanwhile, Power Dynamos coach Osward Mutapa said his team was on course to being ready for its CAF Champions League campaign.
“We are almost there, but we will be ready by the time we play the game,” Mutapa said.
