Power Dynamos Football Club head coach Oswald Mutapa says the match against Zesco United is vital in their quest to widen the gap at the top of the MTN Super League table.

The last time Power Dynamos lost a league match to Zesco United was in 2016 at Arthur Davies. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Zesco.

Mutapa’s side will host second-placed Zesco United at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe at 15:30 hours, as they enjoy a 3-point gap over the Ndola side.

Aba Yellow are unbeaten in the last 9 matches, winning eight with just one draw. In a pre-match interview, Mutapa urged his side to remain consistent and show character to continue with the winning streak.

Mutapa warned against being complacent, adding that the battle for the league title is still ongoing.

“We Are Determined” – Mutapa.

“The team has performed well; we have shown consistency, and we have shown personality, as key players have come to the party. We are not allowing goals, and we are scoring goals, but the ratio at which we are creating chances and the goals we are scoring – I still feel we could do much better,” Mutapa said.

“Going into the ZESCO game, another important game, the tough one, but consistency is key. We’re going to this game, and can we try and widen the gap between the team which is second placed? We have the determination and all players available, so we just need to do our best and give our fans the three points that they deserve.”

Mutapa states that it will be a close match as Zesco United will come in to try and avoid defeat to stay in contention for the title.

“They definitely don’t want to lose because it will mean the gap will widen. Everybody should come into play and be consistent like we have been in the past 8-9 games. I feel we can go all the way. It’s a game that we need to take very seriously“

He added, “We can’t talk about anything because we haven’t won anything. Now we still have six games to play and still need to work hard“
