With Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner urging the club’s supporters to turn out in numbers and create an intimidating atmosphere for Red Arrows tomorrow, citing the backing the Zambian side enjoyed during the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie in Ndola last weekend, Airmen captain Saddam Yussuf Phiri has said his team will look to turn the home fans into their own supporters.
Yussuf said playing in front of a large crowd would provide great motivation for the team and that he was looking forward to seeing a packed stadium.
“I think we want to turn Kaizer Chiefs fans into Red Arrows fans tomorrow,” Yussuf said. “So we will just do our best to play our usual game. Even the lads have been talking about it, like the crowd here is big, but we can turn their crowd to support us, so that’s what our players are planning.
“We know they have not been having a good spell, but they are not a bad side; they are a good side. We expect a big crowd, and that’s motivation to the players.”

Yussuf eyes history
Red Arrows lead 1-0 on aggregate, and a draw would be enough to secure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in the club’s history.
Yussuf said qualification would mean a lot to the club and insisted that the team was ready for the encounter.
“It will mean alot. We have never been to the group stage so the boys are highly motivated. We just want to work hard and go to the group stage against Kaizer Chiefs, a very big team in Africa, so its a motivating factor to the boys. The boys are ready and just want to go through to the group stage, because it will mean alot to us and the Zambian people.”
