Red Arrows FC, Zambia’s sole flag bearers in continental football, have been handed a fair shot, after being drawn in Group C of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
The draw conducted on, Tuesday, October 28, in Cairo puts the Airmen alongside AS Maniema Union of DR Congo, Tanzanian side, Singida Black Stars, and the winner pending qualifier between CR Belouizdad (Algeria)/AS Douanes (Mauritania) / Hafia FC (Guinea).
Having shocked South African giants Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in Ndola, 0-1 in Durban, and 3-2 on penalties—Chisi Mbewe’s men avoided the heavyweights.
They have dodged Pot 1 Al Ahly (Egypt), AS FAR (Morocco), and USM Alger (Algeria), and Pot 2 powerhouse Raja Casablanca.
Instead, they land in arguably the most balanced group.
Arrows kick off the campaign at home to Maniema in late November, then away to Singida. This is the first time Red Arrows have reached the group stage in their history.
FULL DRAW:
Group A: Al Ahly (EGY), Raja CA (MAR), ASKO de Kara (TGO), 1º de Agosto (ANG) — Group of Death.
Group B: AS FAR (MAR), Azam FC (TAN), Al Ahly Tripoli (LBY), Durban City (RSA)
Group C: CRB/ASD/Hafia, AS Maniema (RDC), Singida Black Stars (TAN) Red Arrows (ZAM)
Group D: USMA (ALG), CS Sfaxien (TUN), Black Bulls (MOZ), AS Real Bamako (MLI)
The group stage kicks off on 22-23 November. Red Arrows will need at least 10 points to progress beyond the group stage. On this draw, it seems very doable.
