Nkana FC edged Nchanga Rangers with a convincing 2-0 victory, their third win in a row, to reclaim top slot of Stream A of the FAZ transitional league at Kitwe stadium on Sunday.
Nkana now have nine points from three matches, with FC MUZA dropping to second with seven points.
Lazarous Kambole (22) and Patrick Gondwe (44) scored the two goals for Nkana to inflict more pain on Nchanga Rangers, without a win in the last three league fixtures.
In a post match interview with journalists, Elijah Tana, the Nkana FC head coach has urged his lads to remain focused despite a good run to the season.
“I’m happy with the result, but I always say we won’t relax. We’ll be pushing until the end of the league,” Tana said.
Meanwhile, Israel Mwanza, Nchanga Rangers first assistant coach attributed the Nkana defeat to conceding early goals and failure to convert into goals their chances.
“This game, it was very, very intense. We started at a low pace,” Mwanza said.
“We’re under pressure” – Mwanza.
Mwanza has acknowledged the growing pressure on the technical bench.
“We are really under pressure, but we have to fight to come out of this situation,” he said.
Nkana’s next match is a tricky encounter with Konkola Blades, coached by Bestone Chambeshi, their former gaffer, who saw Sharp Razor lose 2-1 away at Kansanshi Dynamos on Saturday in a Week four fixture.

Elsewhere at Arthur Davies stadium, league defending Champions, Power Dynamos returned to winning ways, with a hard fought 2-1 win over winless Trident FC.
Power Dynamos got their goals through returnees Joshua Mutale (09) and Andy Boyeli (50) while Sam Sikasote was on target for the Conquerors in the 31st minute.
In Stream B, it was a historic afternoon for Chirundu United, beating Mutondo Stars by 3 goals to nil, to pick up their first maximum points of the campaign.
Andrew Simumba (12) Ackson Mphala (74) and Christopher Zulu (88) secured full points for the Border Boys.
Other results in Stream B saw Zesco United held to a goalless by Mighty Mufulira Wanderers at Trade Fair ground. In a Lusaka derby, Green Buffaloes and Nkwazi shared the points in a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela stadium.
