Chirundu United have recorded their first-ever victory in the MTN Super League after thrashing Mutondo Stars 3-0 at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday.
The Lusaka-based side, featuring in the top flight for the first time, produced an impressive performance to secure maximum points in the Stream B fixture of the 2026 MTN Super League Transitional League.
Twelve minutes into the match, Andrew Simumba scored the club’s first goal in the top flight, with second-half goals from Ackson Mphala and on-loan striker Christopher Zulu.

Chirundu United began their maiden campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Green Buffaloes before drawing against Nkwazi, making Sunday’s emphatic victory a significant milestone for the newly promoted side.
Head coach Caston Chilekwa was pleased with his players’ performance, describing the encounter as a tactical contest in which his team rose to the occasion.
“Indeed, a good game, a very tactical game. I’m happy with the boys; they were equal to the task,” Chilekwa said in a post-match interview.
However, the coach urged his players to build on the performance and address areas that still required improvement ahead of their next assignment.
“We need to work on what we lack and polish it up. We also need to stick to what we are positive with,” he said.
The victory gives Chirundu United an important boost as they prepare to visit the legendary Shinde Stadium to face Mufulira Wanderers.
