With first goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga out due to illness, Power Dynamos have taken a serious hit ahead of their CAF Champions League first-leg match against Vipers SC on Sunday.
Aba Yellow are in Uganda ahead of Sunday’s clash without their first choice goalkeeper Mulenga.
He has been sidelined due to an illness and has not travelled with the team.
The Chipolopolo boys’ shotstopper played a significant role in Power Dynamos’ success in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, where he saved a penalty to help the team beat Asec Mimosas on penalties.
Mulenga has been brilliant for the Zambian champions, as he managed to keep a clean sheet in the first leg against ASEC Mimosas at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium before saving a penalty in the return leg.
Power Dynamos will take on Vipers SC in the second preliminary round, first leg, of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
After eliminating ASEC Mimosas in the previous round, Power Dynamos will be looking forward to staging a better performance as they seek to secure a spot in the group stages of the competition.
“He is not feeling well, so he stayed back home; he didn’t travel with the team. He is on observation, and our medical team is equal to the task to make sure he gets better soon. It will be a big blow to the team, but we have enough quality that will deliver in his absence,” said the source.
Winner over both legs will secure qualification to the group stages of the CAF Champions league competition.
