Zimbabwean Premier League, Dynamos Football Club has parted ways with their head coach Genesis Mangombe.
The Glamour Boys will take on Zesco United, a team from Zambia, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on August 17, 2024, at Gaborone, Botswana’s National Stadium.
On the domestic front, Dynamos have had an underwhelming season after amassing just 30 points in twenty-two league matches so far in the current season.
Dynamos’ campaign has been lackluster, as they lost the Battle of Zimbabwe derby to Highlanders Football Club for the first time since 2017.
Their latest 1-1 draw against Bulawayo Chiefs left the Glamour Boys in 7th place on the log table, 13 points behind log leader Simba Bhora.
The club has revealed that Mangombe resigned from his job during an emergency meeting that took place on Monday night.
“We wish to advise all our stakeholders that the club has gracefully accepted the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as head coach of Dynamos football club with immediate effect,” reads part of the statement.
The club will appoint a new coach, with first assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe taking over on an interim basis.
“We want to thank Mr. Mangombe for the services he rendered to the club and for all the achievements that the club attained during his tenure,” the club said.
