Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu has praised his side’s emphatic performance following a 6-1 victory over FC Hunters in a Week 10 Zimbabwe Premier League encounter, describing the result as a major statement in their title pursuit.

Hardrock FC, the Golden Boys produced the biggest win of the season so far, closing the gap at the top of the table to just one point behind leaders CAPS United, who sit on 22 points. Kaindu’s side now trails closely on 21 points. CAPS United lost 1-0 to Bulawayo FC.

Speaking after the match, Kaindu admitted his team had struggled in previous fixtures against lower-ranked opposition but was pleased with the response shown.

“We haven’t done well against teams that are below us, but today we came out strong and scored six.” he said.

Despite the dominant scoreline, the Zambian tactician believes his team could have been even more clinical in front of goal.

“Despite the six goals, I think with a bit of composure we could have scored more. But scoring six in the Premier League shows we are doing well,” he added.

Kaindu also emphasized his commitment to squad rotation and building competition within the team, revealing that nearly every player has featured in the opening ten matches of the season.

“By Week 10, almost everyone has played a game. That shows we want to give everyone a chance and promote competition,” he said.

He pointed to the performance of fringe players stepping up when given opportunities, noting that increased squad depth is beginning to pay off.
