Kabwe Warriors forward Saith Sakala believes his side has a chance to challenge for the MTN Super League title next season.
Sakala has scored eight goals for the legendary club that sits fourth with 50 points from 31 matches in the MTN Super League.
Following the change in the football calendar, the Zambian Super League will have a transitional season that will run from September to December this year before switching to the March to November calendar.
In an exclusive interview, Sakala, the leading goal scorer for his team, described the season as a personal success.
He, however, pointed out that his target is to help the team achieve their seasonal goals.
“I can say it has been a positive season for me personally because contributing goals is always important as an attacking player. But football is a team sport, so the most important thing is helping Kabwe Warriors achieve our objectives. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and supporters for the support throughout the season,” he said.
“Competition is tough” – Sakala.
Sakala explained that the club can effectively mount a title challenge if they remain consistent by winning both home and away matches.
He also believes with some reinforcements they will be able to add more firepower to the current squad.
“Yes, I believe Kabwe Warriors can strongly compete for the league next season if we build on the progress from this campaign. Consistency will be key, especially in big matches and away games,” he noted.
Adding, “We also need to keep improving as a team, maintain a strong squad, work hard in the preseason, and continue with the winning mentality.”
Sakala, who joined the club during the 2024/25 season, has also noted that there has been an uptick in the league’s competitiveness this season.

“The competition in the Zambia Super League this season has been very tough and competitive. Compared to last season, many teams have improved in terms of organization, quality, and intensity. Every game has been difficult, and you have to stay focused from the first minute to the last because there are no easy matches anymore.”
Sakala made his breakthrough at NAPSA Stars before he joined Zanaco Football Club, as he also went on to enjoy stints with a number of Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Fateh, Al-Tai, Jeddah SC, and Al Ansar, among others, before he returned to join Kabwe Warriors.
