Newly promoted Barts Queens Football Club goalkeeper Carol Mweetwa says the club’s preparations for their debut season in the ZPL National Women’s Division Transitional League have been intense.

The Choma-based side will make their maiden appearance in the second-tier after qualifying through the provincial qualifiers held in July.

In an interview, Mweetwa said there is competition in the team’s goalkeeping department.

“Our preparations have been going on well. We are working hard to be able to compete well in the national league,” she said. “In terms of competition in goal, we are working hard as goalkeepers. There is no room to relax because you find that your friend is also working to be a starter; we love and respect each other, but when training, it is serious business.”

Mweetwa also added that competition in all departments will be helpful.

She is optimistic of the team’s chances to earn promotion to the National Women’s Super Division.

“We call upon the fans to come through and rally behind us. The team is working hard to be able to win promotion at the end of the season. With hard work and God’s grace, we will reach the Super League,” she concluded.
