Power Dynamos, Zambia’s defending Super League Champions, were held to a goalless draw by Prison Leopards in their opening League match of the season.
After defeating African Stars of Namibia 1 to nil over the weekend to advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League, Power Dynamos sought to get off to a great start in this match.
However, it was the home team that had the better of the opening exchanges, as Junior Zulu and Landu Meite both missed clear-cut opportunities.
Power Dynamos had a chance of their own five minutes before half-time, but Joshua Mutale saw his effort saved by Jeff Lungu.
Head Coach Mwenya Chipepo made alterations as a result of Power Dynamos’ poor start to the game, replacing Kalenji Mwepu and Brian Mulanbia with Salulani Phiri and Jacob Kunda.
Salulani came near to score, but Leopard’s goalie handled his lightning-fast strike expertly to the disappointment of Aba yellow fans.
The two goalkeepers played their best to keep the scores low despite both teams having opportunities to take the lead.
After 90 minutes, there was no way to distinguish the two teams, and the home squad recorded their second tie in two consecutive matches.
