Veteran striker James Chamanga has urged budding striker Moyela Libamba to work hard and cement his place in the national team.
The Forest Rangers talisman is a member of the Chipolopolo team that has been gathered by head coach Avram Grant in preparation for Zambia’s final Group H qualifier encounter against Comoros on 9th September, 2023.
Speaking to BolaNews, the 2012 Africa Cup winning striker said Libamba has the ability to play at the highest level if he stays focused and keeps learning.
Libamba makes the three strikers’ list called by the gaffer which also includes Leicester City striker Patson Daka and long-serving striker Evans Kangwa.
The towering striker scored Zambia’s only goal in the 2023 COSAFA Cup final as the Chipolopolo beat Lesotho 1-0 in the final to win a record extending 7th COSAFA title.
“People might tell him, “You have arrived now,” or possibly, “it’s you time,” Chamanga said. “He must remain humble. He has scored one international goal at this time.” “Remaining humble doesn’t mean he won’t be lethal. I encourage him to be consistent because there is a lot to learn at this level.”
Chamanga said a lot of expectations at placed on Libamba both at club and national level now that he has earned a call up to the senior team.
The Red Arrows veteran striker believes Libamba will make a mark on the international stage with high chances of playing overseas due to his attributes such as athleticism.
Chamanga gives player advice ahead of Comoros match.
“The call up gives him the opportunity to go and play abroad. I see him going as far as Europe because he has got good enthusiasm in him and he’s running a lot but he has to keep learning, I see him going far.”
Meanwhile, Chamanga has urged players summoned by the coach to play with passion despite the Chipolopolo securing qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He thinks that some players might be selected for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Ivory Coast, as a result of the match against Comoros on September 9.
“It is important for the team to finish on a high note. It is a good selection and he [Avram Grant] wants to see how seriously they will take the game going into selection of the team for the Africa Cup next year,” Chamanga stated.
