English Premier League leaders Arsenal thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Sunday night to secure a fourth consecutive home win and extend their lead to five points.
A brace apiece from Viktor Gyökeres and Eberechi Eze sealed an emphatic victory for the Gunners, strengthening their grip at the top of the table.
Arsenal have now completed a league double over Tottenham in successive seasons.
The win keeps Arsenal five points clear at the summit with 61 points from 28 matches. However, they remain five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
The Gunners bounced back strongly after being held to a frustrating draw against Wolves in their previous outing.
Reacting to the result, Arteta expressed hope that his side would maintain their consistency.
“It feels like we’ve shown what we are made of, but then you have to show it again and again and again, because you have to just analyze how you feel after every game. I mean, it’s a massive roller coaster, and it’s not sustainable. So, we’ve done great. I think we’re all very proud of the manner in which we won the game, not only the way that we performed, and we know what it means to us; we go again,” he said.
Arteta continued: “This one is gone; how do we use it to be a turning point and to make ourselves better? And that was the focus; that was the intention. But after you have to do it on the pitch, and I think what we’ve done from the beginning to the end of the match was outstanding.”
Arsenal will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Chelsea on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
