Mangani Banda, the 2025-26 Super league Golden Glove award winner, has dedicated his accolade to his family, teammates, coaches, and supporters who stood by him throughout his football journey.

Banda kept 13 clean sheets, playing a key role in Kabwe Warriors’ campaign in which the blue and white side, finished fourth with 51 points.

The shot-stopper, who has previously earned call-ups to the Chipolopolo, including Zambia’s high-profile international fixture against Argentina, reflected on his journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the country’s top goalkeepers.

Banda described the award as a testament to perseverance, faith, and hard work.

“Wow… what a journey. When I started, all I wanted was to play football and enjoy the game. There were times I wanted to give up because of the pressure, but as a ghetto boy from Kalikiliki, I kept pushing and believing,” Banda wrote on his Facebook page.

The goalkeeper said his latest achievement ranks among the highlights of a career that has also seen him win the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations title with Zambia.

Banda paid tribute to his late parents, expressing hope that they would be proud of his accomplishments.

“To my parents in Heaven, I hope I have made you proud,” he said.

He also thanked his wife, children, family members, teammates, coaches, and Kabwe Warriors supporters for their unwavering support.

“To my wife, children, family, teammates, coaches, Kabwe Warriors fans, and everyone who has supported me along the way, thank you. This award belongs to all of us,” Banda said.
