Francis Mwansa, the goalkeeper for Green Buffaloes, was beaming after helping his team secure a crucial point against visiting Nkana on Thursday during a Week 31 match at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
With 37 points from 31 games played thus far, Mwansa’s team is in 13th place thanks to a few saves that kept them in the contest.
Francis Mwansa, the backup goalkeeper to Clement Kasongo, is starting eleventh in the starting lineup because of his strong performance in training thus far.
Mwansa had a great season with Trident FC before joining Green Buffaloes in July 2023.
This season, the youthful goalie has made seven appearances for the Nyanta Boys and kept two clean sheets for his team.
During Zambia’s 2-1 victory over South Africa in the 2023 Cosafa Championship semifinal, Mwansa made his Senior Chipolopolo debut.
In the decisive game against Lesotho, the youthful goalie succeeded in keeping a clean sheet, enabling Chipolopolo to overcome Lesotho 1-0 and win their seventh championship.
Mwansa will be excited to return to the national team for the June 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, which will match the Chipolopolo youth against Morocco and Tanzania. He missed Malawi’s Four Nations tournament during the FIFA international break.
