At Nkana stadium on Sunday, Nchanga Rangers registered a 0-1 victory over home side, Nkana FC to frustrate Kalampa’s quest to avoid relegation from the Super League this season.
National league record holders, 13-times Zambian champions, Nkana were aiming to start a new month with a win.
Speaking to the club media, assistant coach Josphat Nkhoma called for togetherness ahead of remaining fixtures.
“I know we have really disappointed our fans. They needed this victory, and we wanted it as well,” Nkhoma said.
“It’s a disappointing result for all of us, but we only hope they (fans) continue to rally behind the team because this is the time we need each other most.”
Nkhoma acknowledged signs of improvement in recent matches, particularly in attack, but was unable to convert their chances on the day.
“If you look at our past games, there was improvement, especially in scoring. It’s disappointing that today, playing at home, we couldn’t get the goals we needed,” Nkhoma added.
In the 10th minute, Dave Daka saw his penalty go wide to equalize for Kalampa.

“It happens in football. Last time he scored for us (against Mufulira Wanderers); today we missed, but we still had enough time to capitalize and win the game,” he said.
“We should not let this bring us down. We have to keep our heads up and know that we can still do it.”
Looking ahead, Nkana will face Zesco United FC away in Ndola in the MTN Super League Week 32 fixture.
“We have to go back, train, and plan for Zesco. We have time to prepare and see how best we can approach the next game,” Nkhoma said.
