Zambian Players Abroad: Kundananji, Banda and Lahne Lead the Way

Kundananji returns with a match-winner for Bay FC, Banda fires another brace, while Chama stuns in Tanzania and Lahne sends Austria Lustenau top of the table.

Racheal Kundananji scored the winning goal for Bay FC in her first start since returning from injury, guiding them to a 1-0 win over San Diego Wave in the NWSL. After being set through on goal by Taylor Huff, the striker nutmegged the goalkeeper to draw first blood at five minutes.

Elsewhere, Barbra Banda netted a brace for the second game running as struggling Orlando Pride fell 4-2 to Washington Spirit on Sunday morning. With seven goals in seven matches, the Copper Queens skipper leads the goalscoring charts.

Chama scores a goal-of-the-season contender, Lameck Banda boosts Lecce’s survival chances

Clatous Chota Chama scored one of the most jaw-dropping goals of the season during Simba SC’s 2-2 draw with rivals Young Africans SC in the NBC Premier League. The midfielder’s acrobatic volley doubled the lead for the hosts in the 10th minute after he had assisted the opener seven minutes earlier.

US Lecce conjured a valuable 2-1 win over Pisa in the Italian Serie A, with the opening goal coming through a Lameck Banda thunderbolt. The Giallorossi will remain above the relegation zone with three matches left. Lecce’s U20s locked horns with Cagliari U20 in the Primavera 1 as Joseph Liteta clocked 45 minutes.

Mutandwa bags goal and assist, Lahne takes Lustenau top of the league

Kingstone Mutandwa set up Ante Bajic’s opener before scoring a late penalty in SV Ried’s 2-0 victory vs. BW Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga. The Cagliari Calcio loanee is the league’s joint-topscorer with 14 goals.

In the Austrian second tier, Jack Lahne put Austria Lustenau ahead of SW Bregenz as they claimed a 2-0 victory that catapulted them to the summit of the 2. Liga table. Over the Germany, Lubambo Musonda kept a cleansheet for 1.FC Magdeburg, helping them secure a narrow win against Hertha BSC and climb out of the relegation zone.

Kings Kangwa clocked 90 minutes in Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s 2-0 triumph over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Ligat Ha’Al, while Patson Daka potentially played his final match for Leicester City, who defeated Blackburn Rovers 1-0 on the final day.

Zimba becomes Scottish League One Champion, Ricky Chanda, Chisala both score in Estonia

Chanka Zimba was crowned a Scottish League One champion with Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday following a 2-1 beating of Hamilton. He contributed 11 goals and three assists in the league and 19 goals across all competitions for the club.

In Estonia, Ricky Chanda scored a diving header while Benjamin Chisala netted a tap-in eight minutes after coming off the bench as Nomme United edged Parnu 3-2. Elsewhere, Miguel Changa Chaiwa put in a 90-minute shift for 10-man Hibernian, who lost 1-0 to Scottish giants Celtic.

Rodrick Kabwe recorded a cleansheet for Al Ramadi in the Iraqi Premier Division, Joshua Mutale started for Al Adalah in Saudi Arabia while Samson Ngulube featured as a substitute in Finland.

Andrew Phiri participates in 6-1 thrashing, Jadel Katongo starts again in the Turkish topflight

Andrew Phiri was named in Hardrock’s starting XI in Zimbabwe as they decimated FC Hunters 6-1 while Obino Chisala clocked 87 minutes for Al Merrikh in Rwanda.

Peter Chikola concluded his 2025-26 campaign with Linares Deportivo, making his seventh substitute appearance for the club. He had one goal to his name in the Spanish fourth tier.
