Power Dynamos’ second assistant coach, Songwe Chalwe, has downplayed the club’s 10-point lead at the summit of the MTN Super League.
Aba Yellow edged Nkwazi 1-0 in a rescheduled Week 27 encounter at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka, with Moses Shumah extending his goal tally to 21. The victory moved them to 64 points, 10 clear of second-placed Red Arrows, who sit on 54.
In a post-match interview, Chalwe said the team is approaching the campaign one game at a time, stressing that the season is still far from over.
“We take a game at a time. The three points, you can consider our position at the top. We just have to keep on working because we still have games to go,” he said.
“Our aim is to play the game and win each game as it comes. We are not even looking at the 10 points; we are just looking at each game as it comes. We just have to make sure that we become victorious.”
Meanwhile, Nkwazi FC first assistant coach Keegan Phiri expressed disappointment over the team’s failure to convert the chances they created.
“A very hard one to take. I feel like we did enough to get the full three points. But we were playing the champions. So as much as we are disappointed, we are okay with the way the boys performed. As usual, the problem that has hit us very hard this season is lack of conversion of goal-scoring chances,” Phiri said.
“At this stage, every point is very important. We thought if we came out with a point today, it would be a bonus. But now, the time that we considered the goal really threw our plan in disarray. Because we had planned to sit back and wait for transitions, but now we conceded very early.”
