Nkwazi Football Club head coach Masauso Tembo says he is impressed with the team’s preparedness ahead of the 2026 Transitional League.
The high-flying Nkwazi concluded their 10-day pre-season training camp on the Copperbelt, where they played a series of friendly matches.
The policemen won two games, lost one and drew three during the training camp.
Speaking to the club’s media, Tembo said the camp had provided an opportunity for the new players to integrate with the existing squad, while expressing confidence in the team’s prospects for the upcoming season.
“This has been a good outing for us, and it also gave an opportunity for the new players to jell with the old players,” he said.
“We are looking forward to displaying a different ball game in the upcoming season. This time around we don’t want to fight relegation; we will fight to ensure we compete and finish strong,” he added.
Tembo further expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the new players, saying the club’s priority was to bring in young talent.
“Our number one objective was to bring in young players in the team; so far so good, we just need to encourage and motivate them,” he noted.
The coach acknowledged that the short nature of the Transitional League would present a challenge but said the team would need to work harder to deliver a strong performance.
“It’s not going to be easy, it’s a very short league that is coming up, but we just need to work extra hard so that we put up a brilliant performance,” said Tembo.
Meanwhile, Nkwazi have been placed in Stream B of the 2026 Transitional League, which will run from September to December.
