Aguila Stars head coach Makundika Sakala remains optimistic that his team will catch up with the top four teams in the league standings and be promoted to the Zambian Super League.
Sakala’s side is currently ranked 11th in the table, with 27 points, 30 behind leader Nchanga Rangers. They have recorded 5 wins, 12 draws, and 6 losses so far and require 17 points to move into the top four promotion brackets.
Last weekend, the Lusaka-based side was defeated 3-0 by Nchanga Rangers, but Sakala believes there is still hope.
“I think we are also close to promotion because the 4th team is still [has] 30 [points] so we can close the gap by winning games,” he told Bolanews in an exclusive interview.
The former Chipolopolo player stated that the team will continue to fight for promotion to the Super League.
“We will continue to work hard to avoid relegation.” The target remains the same: qualify for the Super League until the last game,” Sakala added.
Aguila will face Young Prison Leopards FC on Sunday at the Godfrey Chitalu Stadium.
