Nigeria have qualified for the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after beating Brazil 3-1 in Wednesday’s semi-final, becoming the first African nation to reach the tournament’s final.
The Flamingos will face Japan in the decider as they bid to make history by lifting the world title.
After a goalless first half, Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 55th minute through Queen Joseph before Awuwu Bashiru doubled their advantage in the 71st minute.

Bashiru completed her brace in the 80th minute to put Nigeria firmly in control at 3-0. Brazil managed a late consolation through Greise in the 89th minute, but it was not enough to prevent the Flamingos from securing a historic victory.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to the final against Japan, who booked their place in the decider earlier in the day after a dramatic encounter with DPR Korea. Japan scored an injury-time equaliser before edging the two-time defending champions in a penalty shootout to secure their long-awaited return to the final.
