National Division One league playoffs kick off in Lusaka

In the first four games of the National Division One League playoffs, five goals were scored; one game ended in a scoreless draw.

The National Division One League playoffs in Zambia began on Sunday in Lusaka, the country’s capital, with an entertaining slate of games at Heroes and Sunset Stadia.

Ten teams representing all regions are competing for the four spots available in the second-tier national division.

Among the prominent people in attendance at the matches were Wedson Nyirenda, a former national team coach, George Lwandamina, and several local coaches.

Ndola United and Malalo Police drew 1-1 in the first Group One encounter at National Heroes Stadium, while Chirundu United defeated Cayot Rangers 2-0 in the second match.

John Mwanza scored the game’s lone goal in the 56th minute to help Nangweshi Pirates upset Young Kansanshi Dynamos in the early kickoff at Lusaka’s Sunset Stadium. In the second game played there, Mines United and River Plate were forced to a scoreless draw.

Can Chirundu, Nangweshi record back-to-back wins?

Chirundu United will meet Malalo Police on Monday in Group One in an attempt to win their second playoff game. While Malalo Police coming off a 1 all draw against Ndola United. Ndola United will play Muchinga Blue Eagles in the second match, hoping to win.

In Group Two, River Plate will meet Nangweshi Pirates in an attempt to win their first playoff game. Young Kansanshi Dynamos were defeated by Pirates one goal to none. When Young Kansanshi come up against Katete Rangers, they’ll try to win to stay in contention for promotion.
