Chirundu United goalkeeper Stacial Kangwa Jr. says playing two giants in the Absa Cup has given the club an idea of what to expect when they earn promotion to the MTN Super League.
The ZPL National League outfit reached the semifinals of the 2026 ABSA Cup after beating Kabwe Warriors and Zanaco FC. They, however, fell short to Red Arrows FC, losing 2-0.
Kangwa, who delivered an impressive performance between the posts when they played Kafue Warriors in the round of 16, earned the man of the match accolade.
The 19-year-old shot stopper noted that featuring in the prestigious knockout tournament had given him the belief that he can compete at the highest level of Zambian football.
“Playing Absa was a dream come true, and it was my first time playing these highly competitive games. Playing against the greatest, that’s the time you can also make a name for yourself if nobody believes in you,” he said.

He stated that their run in the competition has reinforced the belief that they can compete in the top-tier league.
“It has given me courage to look forward and believe I can also challenge those in the Super League and do better. As a team we have seen what needs to be done to remain competitive in the Super League, which we are pushing for,” he said.
Kangwa who is in his first season with Chirundu United, said the team is determined to secure promotion under head coach Caston Chilekwa.
Chirundu United are currently sitting in sixth place with 53 points, with two matches in hand.
