Despite recording three consecutive defeats in the National League, Abuild Mwale, the head coach of National Assembly, says that the League is not as competitive as in the past.

Assembly return to the lower tier after a two-year absence was made possible with a 2-1 victory over Mpulungu Harbour.

However, things have changed for the Parliamentarians, who are now in 14th place and one point from safety after consecutive losses to the league’s top team, City of Lusaka, and Copperbelt team Nchanga Rangers.

However, according to Mwale, the team’s goal of placing in the top ten is still very much within reach even after the squad makes its debut in Zambia’s second tier of football.

“Our start is very much okay, but the goalkeeping errors are what have costed us a lot. We have also not been clinical in front of goal,” he said.

“We have however, worked on addressing these challenges and once implemented, we shall be getting good results,”

Mwale also tells Bola News that the team would be able to rest and concentrate on using strategies that are appropriate for the level of play during the international break.

“The international break has actually come at the right time. We will have enough time to prepare for our next games that will see take on Young Leopards, Chipata United and Jumulo Football Club,” he said.

“We fancy our chances of winning all the three games, and we are not underrating any team but in football you need to take your chances and make them count,” he added.
