Ackson Mphalo, a defender for Chirundu United Football Club, says his team would try to convert scoring opportunities they create in the next National Division One League games.

Last weekend at Lusaka’s Independence Stadium, the Border Boys and River Plate, another recently promoted team, drew goalless to open their National Division One League campaign.

Their next game is scheduled for this Sunday at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka versus Kafue Celtic.

Mphalo reacted to the team’s first National Division One League game by saying that they were still figuring out how to adjust to the new league and that they will do well in the upcoming games.

Since it was both clubs’ first league game, Mphalo observed that the opening game was challenging.

“The first match was okay; we were playing as newly promoted teams, so it was a 50-50 affair. We will have to work on putting to bed the chances that we create because in the National League, it is one chance and one goal,” Mphalo said.

The defender, known for his calmness, states that the Border Boys are in the league to compete with the goal to finishing in the top four bracket at the end of the season.

“For the upcoming games, we will work hard; we are in this league to compete and finish in the top four,” Mphalo stated.

Because Chirundu District in the Southern Province lacks a venue suitable to accommodate National Division One football, Chirundu United will use Edwin Imboela Stadium as their home groundvenue.
