After Dani Olmo’s second-half goal in the 51st minute for Spain, substitute Florian Wirtz scored an equaliser in the 89th minute to save Germany and force the game into extram time.

However, with one half of extra time played, Mikel Merino of Spain struck a header into the top corner in the 119th to shatter the hearts of the home team.

Spain is aiming for a record-breaking fourth European Championship trophy at the Euro 2024. They previously won the tournament in 1964, 2008, and 2012.
