Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro were on target as Spain defeated France 2-0 to book their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final for the first time since 2010.
The European champions produced a disciplined and clinical display at Dallas Stadium to eliminate France and move within one victory of lifting a second World Cup title. Spain will face either England or Argentina in Sunday’s final.
After a cagey opening, Spain broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Lucas Digne brought down Lamine Yamal inside the penalty area. Oyarzabal calmly converted the resulting spot-kick.
La Roja continued to control possession after the break and doubled their advantage in the 58th minute. Pedro Porro combined brilliantly with Dani Olmo before slotting a composed finish beyond Maignan to make it 2-0.
Spain thought they had added a third goal when Yamal found the back of the net from close range, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Despite France boasting an attack featuring Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué, Spain’s defence remained resolute throughout. Goalkeeper Unai Simón made several important saves to preserve the clean sheet and frustrate the French forwards.
Spain will now await the winner of Wednesday’s second semi-final between England and Argentina to discover their opponents in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
