Chipolopolo forward Kings Kangwa had a great season for Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva and it is no surprise he has been named the Best Foreign Player in the Israeli Premier League.

BolaNews takes you through the numbers that have defined Kangwa’s season, earning him a place in the league’s Best XI.

Consistency – 35 league games played

It is true what they say, the more game time, the better a player gets. Kangwa’s performance can be credited to the fact that he has had more time on the pitch than at any point in his career.

35 is the highest number of games he has played since he left Zambia, the least being eight in his debut season at Russian outfit Arsenal Tula.  The closest he came to playing 35 league matches was in the 2022/2023 season at Red Star Belgrade; that season he managed 32.

Eye for goal – 14 goals scored

He is the league’s second most potent midfielder in so far as scoring goals is concerned, having managed to find the back of the net on 14 occasions, again the most he has had in his career.

Since leaving Zambia, he has never hit double digits on the score sheet; the highest number of goals he had scored prior to this season was 5 in the 2021/2022 season at Tula.

Coach Avram Grant will hope this kind of firm continues ahead of Chipolopolo’s upcoming engagements.

Discipline – 4 yellow cards, 0 red cards

Kangwa’s season has been defined by discipline on the pitch. It is rare for a midfielder to have so few yellow cards by the end of a long season and never have to be sent off.

His current record is way better than the 2021/2022 season, when he had eight bookings after only playing 19 matches.

Overall, it has been a good season for Kangwa, and it will come as little surprise should he attract a team from mainstream Europe.
