Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) of Tanzania will remain suspended after failing to pay Zambian striker Lazarus Kambole in full for 45 days, as required by FIFA.
Yanga is currently serving an indefinite ban for violating Article 3 of the FIFA transfer regulations, and Kambole’s case is the latest addition to the already existing ban.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker, who now plays for ZESCO United, left Yanga on loan three months after signing with the Tanzanian club.
Kambole lodged a complaint against Yanga for failure to pay salaries and signing-on fees after he joined the club in June 2022.
TTF confirms FIFA ruling against Yanga
According to Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer Clifford Ndimbo, the Tanzanian Premier League defending champions have 45 days to pay Kambole’s full rights and financial obligations following his contract’s premature termination.
“NBC Premier League Club Young Africans SC has been banned from registering players until they pay their former player, Lazarus Kambole,” Ndimbo said in a statement. “The decision has been made by the International Football Federation (FIFA) after Kambole won his case against the club.”
Ndimbo added, “The Zambian player filed a case with FIFA demanding the payment of his signing fee and salary arrears. The club was supposed to have paid him within 45 days since the decision was made, but it did not implement it.”
Consequently, the TFF has imposed a ban restricting Yanga from registering players.
“So, Yanga have been imposed with a ban on recruiting players domestically and internationally until they settle their debt with Kambole… TFF has also imposed a similar ban on Yanga for violating the rights and regulations.”
Prior to joining Yanga SC, Kambole played for South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Kaizer Chiefs, where he struggled to replicate his previous form at ZESCO United.
