Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Morocco Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2004, after drawing 1-1 with Angola on Friday.

The Black Stars needed a win to keep their slender prospects of qualifying for next year’s tournament alive but they couldn’t as they were outplayed by Angola.

In the eighteenth minute, Jordan Ayew gave the visitors the lead with a spectacular long-range free kick.

M’Bala Nzola had a penalty kick opportunity to tie the score, but Ghanaian goalie Abdul Manaf Nurudeen saved it.

However, the home team persevered, and Zini’s goal in the 64th minute gave Angola the equalizer.

With only three points from five games, Ghana remain at the bottom Group F. They were hoping that Sudan (7 points), would lose both of their games in order to reach their two-game win total.

Niger’s 4-0 victory over Sudan on Thursday had benefited the Black Stars but they faailed to capitalize on that.

On Monday, Ghana takes on Niger (four points), who, if Angola wins their last group match, can move up to second place behind them (13 points).
