Senegal booked their place in the final of the CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 after edging hosts Morocco 7-6 on penalties following a dramatic 1-1 draw in Rabat on Thursday night.
Goalkeeper Assane Sarr emerged as the hero for the Young Lions of Teranga, making crucial saves during the tense shootout at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium to silence the home crowd and end Morocco’s hopes of lifting the title on home soil.
The victory sets up a final showdown against Tanzania, who also advanced via a penalty shootout after overcoming Egypt earlier in the day in another thrilling semi-final encounter.
Morocco looked destined for elimination before Ismail El Aoud forced a dramatic comeback deep into stoppage time, converting from the rebound after his penalty was initially saved.
However, Senegal held their nerve in the shootout to secure their place in the final, where Tanzania will stand between them and continental glory.
Morocco will face Egypt in the third-place playoff on Monday next week, while the final will be played on Tuesday.
