FC MUZA head coach Nowell Phiri has praised his players after securing their first-ever away victory over Konkola Blades in the MTN Super League Week 2, beating the home side 2-0 on Saturday.
Goals from Rickson Ng’ambi, who struck from a freekick, and Given Kalusa sealed all three points for the Elegant Dynamites.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Phiri hailed the performance of the Mazabuka based side.
“Credit goes to the boys. They fought hard, they had a splendid performance, and I’m glad that winning away from home is a plus.”
MUZA went into the match following a goalless home draw against Zanaco on the opening day of the season. Phiri revealed his pre-match message to the players was focused on confidence and resilience.
“The message was simple to the boys: just have confidence. We knew we were going to encounter a lot of pressure from Konkola Blades,” he said.
The coach added that lessons from the first match helped shape the team’s approach.
“We are coming from a draw against Zanaco at home. I’m happy we saw what went wrong, and we had to work on our strikers, and today it has worked.”
