“It’s Historical” – Bwalya On Makeni All Stars’ Slot In The ABSA Cup Round Of 16

Makeni All Stars will face 2024 ABSA Cup losing finalist, Kabwe Warriors in the round of 16.

Following an historic debut in the 2025 ABSA Cup last weekend, FAZ Lusaka Division One log leaders Makani All Stars Football Club president Benedict Bwalya has revealed the team’s long-term vision.

Makeni All Stars defeated Muchinga Blues Eagles 4-5 in post-match penalties after a 2-all draw in regulation time.

In an interview with Bola News, Bwalya revealed that playing in the ABSA Cup was a historic moment for the club who currently lead the Provincial Division One League.

Bwalya said qualifying for the competition was a result of the team’s hard work throughout the years.

“Go And Give It Your All” – Bwalya.

“It was a historical and proud moment for us, for the whole team from the management to the players and the fans as well. It was a show of the hard work that we have put in on and off the pitch. We will hold special in the history of our club for its entire existence,” Bwalya said.

With a challenging match against the losing finalists of the 2024 ABSA Cup, Kabwe Warriors, awaiting in the Round of 16, Bwalya states that the team is fully aware of the calibre of opponents they are facing.

Additionally, he mentions that Makeni All Stars have a talented and determined squad to face Warriors.

“We understand the magnitude of the team we are facing, and we have nothing but great respect for them. We know the size of fight that is in them, and we will give it everything we have. My word to the team; We believe in you, and we are proud of you. Go and give it your all,” he stated.

The winners of this year’s competition will receive K1 million in prize money, which Bwalya thinks can help the team achieve its long-term goal of building a stadium.

“One of our long-term goals as a team is to have our own facility or stadium. The prize money would be a great contribution towards that goal,” he added.
