The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that it will start distributing Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to all 18 Super League teams.

In his FAZ president’s column on Monday, Andrew Kamanga said that Football House got the equipment with the help of FIFA.

GPS technology, which involves sensors worn by athletes to transmit location data, tracks players’ positions and movements on outdoor fields, allowing teams to analyze their movements, speed, and distance covered.

Player-tracking systems that use GPS can provide many benefits, including performance monitoring, tactical analysis, injury prevention, player development, and team bonding.

Kamanga believes that it would help improve Zambian clubs’ training procedures, and he is optimistic that it will revolutionize the local football environment.

“There could not have been better news coming out of Football House this week than the arrival of the Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment that will be distributed to all the 18 Super League teams,” Kamanga said.

“As part of our commitment to help our clubs modernize their operations, we undertook to secure GPS equipment for all the Super League teams through the support of FIFA.”

Kamanga added that distribution of the equipment that is currently at Football House will commence in the next few days.

He has urged the clubs to keep the equipment safe to prolong its longevity.

“We will be handing out the equipment to all the teams in the next few days. It is a development that we have no doubt will completely change the face of the Zambian game. Our appeal to the clubs is that they guard this equipment jealously, as it has come at a great cost,” Kamanga said.
