Patson Daka scored and provided an assist, but his Leicester City side failed to hold on to a 3–0 first-half lead as they fell 4–3 to Southampton, continuing their struggles in the English Championship, where they now risk relegation.

Leicester City started brightly, with Divine Mukasa marking his full debut with a goal in the 9th minute after being set up by Daka, who shortly afterwards doubled the lead in the 13th minute. Ghana’s Abdul Fatawu fired home in the 29th minute to make it 3–0.

However, in the second half, Southampton turned the tables, with Ross Stewart reducing the arrears in the 61st minute before defenders Jack Stephens (82nd) and Ryan Manning (87th) also got on the scoresheet for the visitors. A stoppage-time strike from Shea Charles in the sixth minute of additional time completed the comeback and sealed victory for the Saints.

The result left Leicester City 21st in the English Championship, just above the bottom three on goal difference, with a trip to Stoke City coming up in their next league encounter on Saturday, 21 February.

Before then, attention turns to Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round clash with Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium.
