Malawi giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were on the wrong side of the law on Sunday after their supporters invaded the pitch and applied liquid substances in the opponent’s goal area.

The supporters also obstructed match-day security operations by rescuing a pitch invader from stewards and setting him free.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Competitions Committee has since commenced disciplinary proceedings against the club and six of its supporters, including supporters’ chair Chingeni Gumbala Kadam’manja, Shaibu Woyera, Trouble Ndikida Kapito, Alick Tsegula, Ganizani Baba, Dyton Bello and Fred Sherrif.

Speaking to BolaNews, Bullets chief executive officer Albert Chigoga said the club will not shield any official, as their goal is to protect the club.

“No one is bigger than the club. We protect the value of the club and reputation. Bullets are bigger than an official, reputation is priceless. We have done a lot to put the club where it is now, so we will not shield any person,” said Chigoga.

He also said the club is reviewing videos provided by FAM, along with footage they captured themselves, indicating that the club will also institute disciplinary measures against the offenders.

“What we are doing is to safeguard the reputation of the club. We will cooperate with FAM, we cannot allow an individual to damage this brand. We will see if there is a need to come up with our charges as well as to supporters who are found wrong,” he said.

The incidents occurred during the 2026 Castel Challenge Cup semi-final match against Mzuzu City Hammers played at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, 8 February 2026, which Bullets won 2–0. They will face Goshen City Dedza Dynamos in the final next week.
