Forest Myooye Football Club head coach Evaristo Mkandawire has declared that his side is fully prepared to face any opponent in the 2026 ABSA Cup following their maiden qualification for the competition.
The FAZ Central Province Division One log leader has enjoyed an impressive 2025/2026 season and are also strongly positioned to secure a place in the National League playoffs at the end of the campaign.
Speaking in an interview with BolaNews, Mkandawire said careful planning and structured preparation have been key to the club’s progress, stating that “our major objectives were clearly outlined—to qualify for the ABSA Cup tournament, to win the league, and thereafter gain promotion to the National League.”
Mkandawire explained that the club set high standards during pre-season, focusing on strengthening weak areas through targeted recruitment and exposing the squad to competitive friendly matches against higher-profile opponents.
ABSA Preps Intensify
Forest Myooye played several demanding friendlies, including draws against Makeni All Stars, Lusaka City Council, and Nampundwe FC; wins over Kafue Eagles and Mines United; and a narrow defeat to Zanaco FC.
“With such preparation, our football soldiers are already prepared and eager to play any team,” he said. “We have a clear playing philosophy and energetic fresh blood that has adapted well to our technical and tactical approach.”
Mkandawire said his side is determined to compete favorably and possibly cause major upsets.
“We have team depth with quality players who can handle pressure and play for the club badge with determination, dedication, mental strength, and teamwork. We come into this tournament with clear ambitions to upset the tables and display our beautiful talents with a winning mentality.”
Mkandawire stressed that discipline and belief will be crucial as Forest Myooye embark on their historic ABSA Cup journey.
