On Sunday at Nkoloma stadium, Zanaco FC stormed the 2026 ABSA Cup quarter-finals via a 2-1 win over National Division one side, Kafue Celtic.
Goals from Williams Obande and Araina Lambert were enough to secure the win for the Bankers, while Chama Chansa pulled one back for the Crocs in the 83rd minute.
Speaking after the match, Numba Mumamba noted that his team, Zanaco FC struggled due to a lack of sharpness in front of goal.
“I think for us as a technical bench we are very disappointed with the performance that we have seen from our team. Our attitude was completely wrong in this game, and that is why we struggled,” he said.
Mumamba observed that there was complacency from his players, which led to an underwhelming display.
“I think we need to psych our players mentally because once you go into a game with an element of complacency, this is what transpires on the pitch.”
His counterpart, Kafue Celtics coach Carlos Sinyangwe praised his players for their effort against more experienced opposition.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a disappointment because looking at how the boys played, everyone did not expect that. So it’s good that we even created chances for the big boys,” he said.
Looking ahead, Sinyangwe has shifted attention to a top-four finish in the national division one league.
Zanaco will now face Chirundu United, who advanced after beating Kabwe Warriors 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
