Green Buffaloes, defender Lucky Bwalya says the Zambia Army-sponsored side fell short of expectations during the Zambian Premier League 2025-26 season, adding that the team dropped too many points from winning positions.
Buffaloes, finished the campaign in 12th place with 41 points, recording nine wins, 14 draws, and 11 defeats.
Reflecting on the club’s performance, Bwalya said the team could have secured a much higher finish had they managed games better and converted leads into victories.
“I think the team could have finished higher. We could have done better by not allowing games that we were leading to end in draws. That also contributed to the position we finished in,” Bwalya said.
The defender, believes Buffaloes had the quality to challenge for a higher league position and described the final standing as below the club’s standards.
“We could have finished higher because we are a big team,” he added.
On a personal level, Bwalya was happy with his creative contribution during the season, though he has set his sights on improving his goal contribution in the next campaign.

“Last season I had more assists only, but next season I am looking forward to scoring and assisting to the fullest,” he said.
The defender stated that his individual ambitions are tied to the team’s success, with his main objective being to help Green Buffaloes climb up the table and compete among the league’s top sides.
“And not forgetting putting the Green Buffaloes in the best position because we are a big team,” he said.
