Trident Queens Football Club head coach Nicholas Zulu says the club’s primary objective this season goes beyond survival in the ZPL Women’s Super League, with a strong emphasis on developing and exposing players.
After securing a crucial 2-0 away victory over Green Eagles FC at NASDEC, Zulu’s side enhanced their survival chances, as they sit ninth with 42 points.
Zulu explains that the players have shown a lot of quality.
“I give credit to the girls because we traveled a long distance,” Zulu said. “Our objective was to win so that we could build consistency and secure more victories.”
Zulu also singled out standout performers, including Madrine Lukhelo and Florence Kasonde, who have been instrumental in the team’s recent performances.
“They are following instructions well. We are working on improving our striking force so that we score more goals throughout the season and raise their profiles in the league,” he said.
“They are quality players, and what they are doing in matches reflects what we work on in training.”

Lukhelo, in particular, is emerging as a key figure for the side. The striker has made a strong impact off the bench, scoring in back-to-back matches.
She opened the scoring in a 2-0 win over YASA Queens and previously found the net in a 3-0 victory against Nkwazi Queens.
With an earlier goal against National Assembly Women, Lukhelo now takes her tally to three goals this season.
