FAM Offers Fazili Two-year deal To Continue As Scorchers Coach

After taking the team to the semifinals of the Cosafa Women's Championship twice in a row, Fazili has been offered a deal.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has finally offered Lovemore Fazili a two-year contract to coach the Malawi Women’s Football Team.

The development comes after Fazili went nearly a year without a contract after it expired in December last year, two months after he led the team to a Cosafa Cup victory.

Fazili has spent the last few months waiting for FAM to offer him a deal. He told BolaNews earlier this year that he was struggling with life because he was jobless following his Scorchers assignment.

A FAM senior officer has exclusively revealed to BolaNews that Fazili was offered a deal last week but has yet to sign it.

“A two-year contract was given; he has the document and we gave him to go through it and perhaps sign if he is fine with it. But until today, he hasn’t signed. We do not know if he is happy with it or not,” said the source.

The contract has targets plus remuneration. “It’s a two-year contract; salary and bonuses are there, plus what he needs to achieve in that period. If he is not happy with it, then he is supposed to come back to us and negotiate the deal. We hope he will give us feedback within the week.”

We contacted Fazili to enquire about his willingness to sign the agreement, but we received no response.

Fazili made a name for the Scorchers by winning a Cosafa trophy for the first time in history last year. However, he was unable to defend the Cosafa trophy this year after losing to Zambia in the semifinals.

He previously served as the Flames’ assistant coach under Meck Mwase.
