Napsa Stars midfielder Rally Bwalya has praised the club’s head coach, Sipho Mumbi, as one of Zambia’s most promising young managers.

Mumbi is in his first season as Napsa’s head coach after spending the majority of his post-playing career as an assistant coach at the club and, most recently, 13-time champions Nkana.

Mumbi left Nkana at the start of the season to take over at Napsa, filling the void left by old friend Perry Mutapa.

Under Mumbi, Napsa has managed to record some important wins, seeing off defending champions Red Arrows, Nkwazi, Nchanga Rangers, and most recently Zanaco.

They are ninth on the log with 16 points, three outside the top four.

In an interview, Bwalya revealed that Mumbi is going about his business well.

“He [Mumbi] is doing well; being a young manager, he is in the learning phase but so far so good, he is doing well,” Bwalya said of his trainer, who played a bigger role in luring him to Napsa when there were offers from other clubs.

Bwalya, a celebrated figure at Power Dynamos, has returned to Zambia following a spell at Tanzanian side Simba SC and South African outfits Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United.

“I had some offers apart from Napsa, but I wanted to try other new environments. I have played most of my career on the Copperbelt, so I thought of coming to Lusaka and trying a different atmosphere.

“I am settling well, Napsa is a good place and the environment is good, I chose Napsa because of the communication I had with coach Sipho,” Bwalya said.
