Zesco Ndola Girls head coach William Zulu has declared that his side is heading to South Africa for the COSAFA | CAF Women’s Champions League with the ambition to compete, not merely participate.

The Zambian champions are in Group A alongside continental giants Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Ntopwa FC of Malawi, and Beauties Football Club from Namibia. They will open their campaign on Friday against Beauties FC.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, Zulu said his players are ready for the challenge despite acknowledging the toughness of the group.

“For us as Zesco Ndola Girls, this is the first time we are going there, but we know why we’re going there; we’re not going there to participate but to compete,” Zulu said.

He emphasized the importance of self-belief, preparation, and hard work, adding that there are no small teams at this level of competition.

“It’s a tough group, but we just have to believe in ourselves. I know my girls will do it. Our motto is to work hard because football is played on the pitch,” he added.

He also urged fans to continue supporting the team.

“We’ll make mistakes, and criticism is part of the game. But with the support of our fans, we will deliver, and they will see what we can do,” he said.
