As the Copper Queens prepare to face Switzerland in an international friendly match this Friday at the Tissot Arena in Bienne, captain Barbra Banda and coach Bruce Mwape have cleared the air on the team’s lack of cohesion.

Banda refuted claims that her partnership with Spain-based striker Racheal Kundananji is failing during a pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

“I don’t think we have failed,” Banda said. “Me and Kundananji have played a couple of games and we have always delivered.

“If we played one game and that didn’t go well for us, that doesn’t mean we failed. It’s just some errors that we had [in the last game].”

Meanwhile, coach Bruce Mwape backed his captain, stating that there is no problem between Banda and Kundananji.

“I don’t think there is any problem like the Captain has said; I am sure the two games that people have watched, all they want to see is that the two [Banda and Kundananji] are combining well, and that is one area we are working on,” he said.

The coach also stated that he is working to ensure that the girls begin to defend as a team.

Mwape added that after tomorrow’s game, he will be able to name his final World Cup squad.
