Defending Champions France will be without their red-hot forward Christopher Nkunku at this Year’s world cup in Qatar after he suffered an injury in training just seven days before the French’s first opening game.
According to RMC Sport, The RB Leipzig forward suffered the injury in Les Bleu’s final training session at Clairefontaine the French national football center.
France has also not revealed who Nkunku’s replacement will be and fans have been left guessing.
“Injured in training, Christopher Nkunku drops out of the World Cup,” read France’s brief statement. “The whole group shares Christopher’s sadness and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

The fans have since taken to social media to express their sympathy towards the 25-year-old who was set to make his debut at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The RB Leipzig striker now joins a list of other French players who have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.
French coach Didier Deschamps is currently experiencing an injury crisis with several other regulars like Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante all absent including PSG Defender presnel kimpembe.
The French are yet to announce which player will replace Nkunku, but according to several media reports, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal kolo muani is likely to be called to join the squad having scored eight goals so far this season in the Germany Bundesliga.
France who are the FIFA World Cup reigning Champions were drawn in Group D alongside Australia, Denmark, and Tunisia for the 2022 edition.
