The Zambian men’s national team, goalkeeper Charles Kalumba, has expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s recent COSAFA performances.
With four points, Comoros leads Group D, followed by Botswana in second place with one point and Zambia in last position with nil points.
The Chipolopolo boys opened their Cosafa Campaign on a poor note after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Comoros on Friday night.
Speaking in an interview with the FAZ media, Captain Charles Kalumba said the team’s early elimination is a drawback in preparation for their upcoming tournaments.
“I think going into our last game we have to do our best so that atleast we finish strong which is going to set a tone for us in the coming games,” he said.
“I believe the coaches have been talking to us even us the players have been talking there are things we have to work on which will help us in the coming tournament ahead of us,”he said.
Kalumba said, “We need to put in more effort to win and score goals because we haven’t done so in the Cosafa since last year and we haven’t kept a clean sheet. That will give us a good direction to score goals.”
On Wednesday, Zambia will play Botswana in their final Group D match.
