Mamelodi Sundowns secured a spot in the finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after playing out to a 1-1 stalemate against Al Ahly, but advanced on the away goal rule.
It was a battle of two strong African giant teams that played out to a goalless draw in the first leg of the competition in Pretoria last week.

Taher Mohammed put the home side in the lead in the first half, before Yasser Ibrahim put the ball in his own net in the 90th minute.
However, the Brazilians are now close to clinching their second CAF Champions League title, after having won it first in 2016.
Reacting to the result, Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso praised the team for the good fight displayed.
“It was a very difficult match, played by two best teams in Africa. We were together the whole time, the team believed there was a lot of trust in the pitch, I am very happy for the team,”he said.
Cardoso was impressed with his team’s tactical approach against a strong side.

“On our side it could have been another way, but what we wanted to create was obviously mobility in the front, we wanted to have a lot of mobility where the team Al Ahly would have to expose a little bit more, a team like Al Ahly with 0-0 cannot play a game to draw they need some moment to try to go for goals because they know with a goal from us they are out,”added the coach.
The Brazilians will face Egyptian side, Pyramids FC in the Final of the CAF Champions League.
