Arrows Target Power Dynamos’ Unbeaten Run in ABSA Cup Semifinal Showdown

Red Arrows assistant coach Kalililo Kakonje says his team is determined to end Power Dynamos’ 15-match unbeaten run when the two sides clash in the ABSA Cup semifinal on Saturday.

Arrows, who are the defending champions, appear to have surrendered the league title—likely to Power—and are now focused on preventing their rivals from completing a domestic double.

The airmen face a red-hot Power Dynamos side with a record of 13 wins and two draws in their last 15 matches. Ironically, Power’s last defeat was at the hands of Arrows on January 11.

Ahead of Saturday’s showdown, Kalililo said:

“Power Dynamos have the momentum right now, it is very evident. We will not go into the game like we are playing any other game, we will go into it as a cup game against a team that has the momentum.

“They are enjoying their form, they are a win away from being crowned champions, they will be looking at doing a double if they get the ABSA as well so we will be doing our best being the defending champions to try and get to the finals… our first task will be to try and stop Power Dynamos from going 16 games unbeaten,” Kalililo said.

Power Dynamos coach Songwe Chalwe was more reserved: “For us we take each game as it comes, we will see what happens in the game,” Chalwe said.
